WHAT IS JOHKASOU?

We at Daiki Axis manufacture wastewater treatment products at our Johkasou-STP manufacturing plant equipped with the latest equipment.

   Separation BoxSeparate solids in wastewater by gravity and prevent the agitation of the excess sludge in Sedimentation & Separation Chamber by influent.

   Separation & Sedimentation ChamberSeparate solid debris or impurities from water in influent and circulated water and store these sediments in the chamber.Accumulated sludge should be desludged from the tank periodically at least once in 6 – 12 month.

   Anaerobic ChamberIt is filled with filter materials, which separate solids and keep anaerobic microorganisms to decompose organic mater.

   Moving Bed ChamberIt is filled with mesh cylindrical media, which retain aerobic microorganisms to decompose and remove organic matter from wastewater.

   Sedimentation ChamberIn order to obtain clear treated water, separate the excess sludge (suspended solids,SS) by gravity. The settled sludge is constantly returned to the sedimentation & separation chamber by the airlift pump.

   Disinfection ChamberDisinfect the treated water to discharge to the river or other water bodies.

Problems of wastewater treatment emerged in Japan

During the Meiji era (1868-1912) in Japan, many people died due to epidemics often caused by sewage. On this background, the law was enacted in 1900 with the aim of keeping the land clean.

However, the enacted law did not define human-waste as sewage, and the sewage was only discharged without proper treatment, which did not lead to a drastic solution.

Japan entered a period of high economic growth with a variety of problems.

Japan's environmental problems brought by high economic growth

Japan achieved remarkable economic growth from the 1950s to the 1970s, but at the same time, the country suffered from unprecedented environmental pollution and associated health problems, that is called pollution diseases.

Serious water pollution was one of the major environmental problems that Japan experienced.

Therefore through this situation, laws and regulations were established and measures were taken to improve and preserve the environment.

Other Asian countries have already been through environmental deterioration including pollution according to their economic development, and there are many countries that might experience such situations in near future.

We believe that the health hazards caused by pollution in Japan should not be repeated anywhere.

Protecting the water environment by widespread of Johkasou(STP)

Since the 1950's, according to the improvement of living standards by high economic growth, the demand for flush toilets had increased in Japan. In areas without sewerage systems, "Individual treatment septic tanks(Johkasou)," which treat wastewater from flush toilets separately, began to spread rapidly.

Later, "Combined treatment septic tanks(Johkasou)," which can treat both human-waste and miscellaneous wastewater, were developed. Thereby 100% of the wastewater was treated and the serious water pollution problem moved toward a solution.

The role of water treatment is important from both an environmental and hygienic point of view.
